SecureDisc for Rimage
Password Protected Encryption for DVD and CD Distribution
SecureDisc secures the contents of any DVD or CD using a password. It is the only disc encryption product specifically designed for use with Rimage Disc Publishing equipment in a production environment. With SecureDisc, organizations have the ability to completely secure any content distributed on disc by simply specifying a password.
SecureDisc works with Rimage’s Production Server service as a plug-in. When invoked, SecureDisc automatically encrypts the disc data for each disc before being recorded. Encryption passwords may be specified per job through a merge field, or a password file included with the disc content. A fixed password that will be used for all discs produced may also be specified.

To read encrypted discs, the intended receiver must have the SecureDisc client software installed on their PC and the correct password.
Discs are encrypted using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256-bit algorithm, and processed at the image format level for even stronger security. SecureDisc can encrypt data DVDs and CDs, as well as video DVDs that will be played back on a PC. SecureDisc does not require the use of specialized media.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How does pay-per-image work?
SecureDisc for Rimage contains a counter that keeps track of the number of unique encrypted discs produced. Each time a unique disc is encrypted, the counter is decremented. When SecureDisc runs low on available encrypted discs, an Image Pack “refill” may be applied to increase the number of available encrypted discs, similar to the way a postage meter works.SecureDisc for Rimage does not require internet access to apply Image Packs.
Image Packs and the SecureDisc for Rimage software are sold separately.
- How are encryption passwords generated?
SecureDisc for Rimage does not generate or manage passwords, rather, it encrypts using a password provided by your own application.
There are 4 ways to introduce an encryption password:
- Inside the Rimage production order (User Type and User Data)
- Use an extra merge field (password is blanked before printing)
- Include with disc content (inside a password text file, password blanked before recording)
- Use a fixed, global password (every disc has the same password)
- How do you read an encrypted disc?
To read a disc encrypted with SecureDisc, the user must have the SecureDisc Client software installed on their Windows PC. When an encrypted disc is inserted, the user is prompted for a password. If the correct password is entered, the disc is made fully accessible, just like an unencrypted disc. The SecureDisc Client is available free of charge, and may be hosted on your own website.
